Drummer MICHAEL SHRIEVE had just turned 19 when Santana, a relatively unknown band, performed at Woodstock in 1969. Now I’ve never been a big Dead fan [...] There are few movies I’m as ecstatically excited for (or have ever been, for that matter), as much as Taking Woodstock, a soon-to-be-released film due out in theaters on August 14, 2009. Based on the book Taking Woodstock: A True Story of a Riot, a Concert, and a Life by Elliot Tiber and Tom Monte, [...] Joni Mitchell’s Woodstock is really pretty melancholy when you think about it. There’s an element of hope but it’s wrapped in that refrain that we “have to get ourselves back to the garden.” I think she might have sensed that in many ways Woodstock was the beginning of the end of the dream. By the [...] I just got my copy of the Woodstock movie… I’m talking about the two-disc 40th Anniversary Edition. It claims to be remastered with better quality video and audio.
